Poster Design by Stacia Drafahl (WHS '11)
TECH WEEK IS HERE!! (I know, it's like Christmas, isn't it?)

Here is the week in a nutshell:

Monday 11/1: Crew View - 3:00 PM All crew watch the rehearsal so you can see what the show is about and how it all goes. Take notes as you need.

Tuesday 11/2: Technical Rehearsal - 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM. NOTE THAT THIS IS A CHANGE IN THE ORIGINAL SCHEDULE. We will tech as much of Act I as possible tonight

Wednesday 11/3: Technical Rehearsal - 3:00 - 6:30. We'll teck Act II and anything we don't get done in Act I.

Thursday 11/4: PPA Buy It For A Song Auction. Check in with me in the Auditorium right after school - we'll move any equipent over that hasn't been moved. Come to the auction anytime after it begins.

Friday 11/5: Run through - 3:00 - 8:00. Plan on a long rehearsal. This will be the rehearsal that we run lights, sound, orchestra, scene changes ... whatever we have. Plan on a long evening.

Saturday 11/6: Set and Prop work - 9:30 until 5:30. The last big effort on the set. Let's get it done!

This is a long, tiring but exciting week. Bring along your best attitude, problem-solving skills, patience and attentiveness. The end reward will be worth it. STAY POSITIVE!!

Week of October 24-30, 2010: Inside the Three-Week Window

 Greetings Techies!

We are inside the three week window now - meaning that we'll open Chicago in front of your peers - and others - two weeks from this Wednesday.

This week we have the last light rigging session on Tuesday night from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. We'll hang, circuit and focus the final lights and then we'll gel as many lights as we can. On Thursday we'll have the light board operators come in and begin the task of programming cues. We may need a few others to come in to finish gelling the lights, but it will be a small crew. Saturday we'll be working on the set from 9:30 AM until about 4:00 - we have to end a little early due to the Iowa Caucus Debate tournament using the Auditorium for their awards ceremony as they always do.

Keep in mind that the week of November 1st is Tech Week - with the PPA Auction thrown in there as well. Check the schedule!!

Thanks for another great Saturday work session!

Week of October 18-23: Lighting and Set work for Chicago.

Hi gang!

This posting is a little late, but nevertheless, here we are three weeks from opening night!

Thursday night is light rigging from 6:00 - 9:00 PM. We'll be concentrating on the upstage areas and the back and down-lighting for the rest of the stage. We'll be using the lift, so we'll progress a bit more slowly than we did on Tuesday. We'll also continue to use the Lightwright software for this show - we finally have the full version so we can do every single circuit for the auditorium. Whoo-HOO! (OK, just a little nerdy techie excitement.)

Saturday we'll continue to work on the set beginning at 9:30 AM. We'll concentrate on making sure we can safely get from the stage floor to the scaffolding deck. We have one functioning "ornamental" staircase that will move from the front of the upstage structure to offstage; we'll build two additional staircases that are static (don't move) on the upstage side of the structure - largely out of sight. We'll build these to keep, as we can always use good strong staircases for future sets. We'll also be working on some smaller things like wagons for the piano, desk, etc. and props! Lots of props and we need to get going on it!

We know that the All-State music auditions are on Saturday, so good luck to those folks. We found out last week that a small dedicated crew can make some big strides - let's do it again!

Techies RULE!
